If you consider yourself a collector of jelly jars — you know, because you fully intend on making your own preserves at-home, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet (guilty as charged!) — now you’ve got the perfect excuse to pull ’em out!
The blogger behind Boulder Locavore, Toni Dash, is proving how simple it is to make chocolate turtle brownies in jelly jars. The dessert is perfect for serving individual portions of decadent treats to a crowd, with the added benefit of portion control! Not to mention, it takes the pressure off of you when it comes to cutting the perfect brownie and getting it out of the baking pan without crumbling.
You’ll still use your trusty box mix of brownies to complete this recipe, following the directions on the box as usual. But instead of pouring the mix into a prepared pan, you’ll fill 12 4-ounce jelly jars about halfway full with the prepared batter.
Make sure the jars are arranged evenly on a baking sheet, pop it in the oven, and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Now, technically, once the brownies have cooled you could just grab a fork and dig in — but this recipe doesn’t stop there!
It calls for caramel candies and heavy whipping cream to be mixed together to create a thick caramel sauce. Then, it gets topped with pecans and chocolate chunks. Yum!
In the end, you’ve got a sweet that’s almost too adorable to eat. Almost.
