Here’s How To Get A Great Deal On The New KitchenAid Artisan Mini Mixer

If you are a baker or have gotten married anytime within the last, oh, several decades, then chances are you know of or own or would love to own a KitchenAid stand mixer.

This wedding registry staple is a delightful kitchen tool that allows you to whisk and beat your ingredients without splattering them all over your kitchen. The only downfall for many is the size of the stand mixer. The popular KitchenAid Artisan 5 quart weighs in at a hefty 26 pounds and claims 132 square inches of counter space.

Bed, Bath & Beyond

Therein lies the beauty of KitchenAid’s new appliance: The KitchenAid Artisan Mini offers a 3.5-quart mixing bowl and weighs just over 19 pounds. The Mini is 20 percent smaller than the KitchenAid Artisan, which means it won’t eat up as much counter space.

But how does it perform, you ask? Foodie site Epicurious gave it a rave review. One of the unexpected benefits, it seems, is that the mixing tools hit the bottom of the Mini bowl, ensuring all ingredients are mixed. The Epicurious reviewer points out that “a common complaint about larger KitchenAid mixers is that those paddles don’t reach the ingredients at the bottom of the bowl due to their size.”

One downfall of the Mini? The ice cream-making attachments don’t work with this model. Alas, if making ice cream with your stand mixer is a must, one of the other models might be better for you.

The KitchenAid Artisan Mini retails for $329.99, whereas the Artisan 5-quart goes for anywhere between $349.99-$499.99. The best deal on the Artisan Mini that I’ve found so far is from Bed, Bath & Beyond. If you have one of the retailer’s ubiquitous 20 percent off coupons, you can get the Mini for $263.99 before sales tax. The item qualifies for free shipping, so there’s no additional cost there.

If you don’t already get 20 percent off codes/coupons from Bed, Bath & Beyond, you can sign up to receive them via text, email or mail here.

I checked out other retailers like Amazon and Target, but the best deal seems to be with the coupon at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Two notes:

1. KitchenAid makes a 4.5-quart mixer that’s slightly smaller than the 5-quart Artisan (25 vs. 26 pounds). If you’re looking purely at cost and aren’t committed to the reduced footprint and weight of the Mini, Amazon has the 4.5 quart in white for $199.99 (before taxes) right now. If you have Amazon Prime, you get free shipping.

2. Macy’s has a sale on the 4.5-quart mixer in silver. It’s on sale for $199.99 plus free shipping now through Oct. 2—so if you like the silver, you should act fast.

Happy mixing!
