Everyone loves a nice cozy blanket to snuggle up under when winter rolls around. If you’re in the market for a new one and don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can make your own knit blanket at home. Not only is it cheap, but it will (surprisingly!) take you only a few hours to create a gorgeous, cozy blanket for your bedroom or living room.
Chunky knit blankets are all the rage right now, and Laura Birek, the blogger behind Nocturnal Knits, gives you step-by-step directions on how to knit one of those beauties yourself. You just need to use PVC tubes as giant needles, and then you’ve got yourself a 50 inch by 84 inch blanket to cover yourself up with or to accent your bed. As long as you know how to knit, the whole thing can be completed in less than four hours.
You can get the full tutorial from Nocturnal Knits, and who knows, maybe you’ll decide to make a bunch of oversized blankets this holiday season—they make great gifts.
Knitting is a great way to unwind and de-stress. Unlike many knitting projects, which can take hours upon hours to complete, how gratifying is it to create an entire blanket in one sitting?
Looking for a technique that’s even easier? Vlogger Simply Maggie shows us how to make a chunky knit blanket using only your arms, and she says it’ll take you just 45 minutes to complete. Check out her technique in this video below:
And if all else fails, check out these chunky blankets you can buy from etsy shop Bloisem for just $67 and up, depending on the size.
