There is precisely one combination I love more than peanut butter and chocolatemint and chocolate. I am forever in debt to whoever first decided to mix those two delicious ingredients.

From hot chocolate to cakes and cookies (I’m looking at you, Thin Mints!), it is arguably one of the best flavor mashups ever created. Tons of big companies have jumped on the bandwagon. Even McDonald’s gave it a go with a chocolate version of the Shamrock shake in 2017, M&Ms tried out a mint flavor in 2018 and Dairy Queen has been serving up mint Oreo Blizzards.

Now, another candy company is getting in on the fun with its first permanent, new flavor in almost a decade — meet Kit Kat Duos Mint + Dark Chocolate!

These new Kit Kats feature a mint crème on the top and dark chocolate on the bottom, surrounding the same light and crispy wafer you know from the original Kit Kat.

Kit Kat Duos Mint + Dark Chocolate are not totally new to the Kit Kat family, as fans across the world have already been enjoying them. But, this is the first time the treat has made its way to the U.S.

Unfortunately, you will still have to wait a bit longer. The new candy won’t officially hit store shelves until December 2019, but that just means it will be a perfect holiday treat!

“Kit Kat is known around the world for its inventive flavors,” said Christopher Kinnard, Kit Kat senior brand manager, in a press release. “Our fans in the U.S. have been requesting new Kit Kat flavors and we’re excited to share we are adding to the Kit Kat family with the launch of Kit Kat Duos Mint + Dark Chocolate.

The release also hints that the company is “just getting started,” when it comes to new flavors, with additional news on more Kit Kat Duo Bars set to arrive in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, if you just have to have some more and wouldn’t mind a trip to Japan, that country has more than 350 Kit Kat flavors to try! You’ll find everything from sweet potato, wasabi, grape, sake, strawberry, apple, lemon and more.

The country even has special “chocolatory” locations (basically, Kit Kat boutiques), where you can stock up on some of the company’s most unique flavors.

For now, while we patiently wait until December, take a look at this recipe for chocolate mint brownies that might just tide you over. The version from Betty Crocker allows for another delicious way to indulge in a chocolate and mint pairing.

These bars involve three different layers that come together in one irresistible dessert. The bottom layer consists of a fudgy brownie. A second layer made of fluffy minty filling tops the brownie. Finally, cover the whole thing in a smooth chocolate glaze.

Not only is the taste divine, but the brownies look pretty as well, which makes them the perfect dessert to serve at your next party.

If that’s not enough, this mint Oreo icebox cake, which calls for mint Oreos, Cool Whip and chocolate syrup might do the trick instead!

This recipe from Tidy Mom only requires three ingredients! All you need are at least 24 mint Oreos, Cool Whip and some chocolate syrup.

You can read the full recipe on Tidy Mom’s blog, but the process is fairly simple. Basically, all you have to do is layer the Oreos and Cool Whip multiple times in your kitchen. Then, garnish it all with chocolate syrup and more Oreos. So easy — and delicious!

Given how delicious they look and how easy they are to make, these chocolate-mint combinations are the perfect treats hold you over until the new Kit Kat arrives to store later this year.
